I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

I remember how embarrassing it was to have to read those poems in English class. I'd invariably be the chosen victim whenever the word breast or bosom or some equally mortifying thing was to be said out loud. The rest of the class would always break out into giggles.
Nice one Al - and a lovely photo too. Thanks for that
That`s a stunning photo.
What happened to last week's comments? I know I left at least one.
Anyway Joyce is wrong.
She said "But only God can make a tree. "
Has she never heard of Genetic Engineers?
Stupid Bimbo.
Hullo folks,
Thanks for the comments. Sorry I've been absent for a while. We've been off on holiday and unfortunately a few days before that my computer was hit by a nasty, nasty virus which meant it had to go to hospital to get better!
Back now so looking forward to catching up over the next few days!
