The Sunday Posts 2015/The Old Woman

 As a white candle
In a holy place,
So is the beauty
Of an aged face.

As the spent radiance
Of the winter sun,
So is a woman
With her travail done,

Her brood gone from her,
And her thoughts as still
As the waters
Under a ruined mill.

Love that Al, and a beautiful photograph too. A more serene face than mine . . .

Hello and thank you both. I'd never come across this poem until recently, but it struck a chord and I knew this was always the photo to go with it. This is probably my favourite photo of Margot {pronounced with the Germanic hard T.} She has a fun personality but also a serenity that is wonderfully mesmerising.

I'm not sure about this one. If it's about calmness and serenity in seniority? Cool. But there's more to life than work and kids! Indigo
