Is there a wedding somewhere

Hullo ma wee blog,

You seem to be the only place that isn't concerned with 'that wedding' going on down south. I've tried and failed to find a radio station that isn't hosting either a wedding commentary or some celebratory wedding show of any kind. It's all just a bit too much. I know I'm a grumpy old bugger at times but there are so many people who think this is complete overkill and resent the fact that as far as every media is concerned you are sadly lacking some mental capacity if the royal wedding isn't consuming your every waking moment.

It's beyond sad.

And yet it's not that I don't wish them well. I do, I really do. They are at the end of it all making a lifetime commitment and that is to be applauded. So on a purely human level I wish them well.

So good luck Kate and William. Just for you one wedding song you probably won't have on a play list today.

Best bit was hearing the roar on the Radio of the Rolls Royce Merlin Engines as the Battle of Britain memorial flight flew over after they had there snog on the balcony! -:)

I'm a guilty participant in the hype. Yes, I stayed up until the wee hours and cried. My husband couldn't care less and thinks very much as you do :) But he was able to get up for work this morning!

Oh, I couldn't agree more Alistair. I too wish them well - just like I would wish any couple well who are making such a lifetime commitment. BUt it's quite disgusting how much our island pays for events like this. I'm always quite disgusted by lavishness & overbearing displays of money - especially so when that money hasn't actually been earned by the people involved! I wonder if the Middleton's have miraculously stopped having to pay any taxes now?

I even buggered off to Australia in the vain hope of getting away from all the hype. It was lessened but still present in all the media. I even planned to be at 35000 feet over the Tasman Sea during the actual ceremony, but after we got back home, my beloved found it all repeated again on the BBC World Service, and started to watch it.
At 2:30 in the morning!
I had a large whisky and went to bed.

I'm just depressed thinking that there will be little else deemed newsworthy for the next while. Now the dress, the ceremony, the guest list, public reaction and the possible future will be disected ad nauseam. Photo competitions will abound and magazine racks will be packed with their beaming faces for months while the dress will be copied to be worn thousands of times by copycat brides up and down the land.

It made me smile when it kept being described as a low-key affair. Not many of those bring the country to a grinding halt and cost tens of millions of pounds.
